    SANSCrypt: A Sporadic-Authentication-Based Sequential Logic Encryption Scheme

    We propose SANSCrypt, a novel sequential logic encryption scheme to protect integrated circuits against reverse engineering. Previous sequential encryption methods focus on modifying the circuit state machine such that the correct functionality can be accessed by applying the correct key sequence only once. Considering the risk associated with one-time authentication, SANSCrypt adopts a new temporal dimension to logic encryption, by requiring the user to sporadically perform multiple authentications according to a protocol based on pseudo-random number generation. Analysis and validation results on a set of benchmark circuits show that SANSCrypt offers a substantial output corruptibility if the key sequences are applied incorrectly. Moreover, it exhibits an exponential resilience to existing attacks, including SAT-based attacks, while maintaining a reasonably low overhead.Comment: This paper has been accepted at the 28th IFIP/IEEE International Conference on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI-SoC

    MS-MT: Multi-Scale Mean Teacher with Contrastive Unpaired Translation for Cross-Modality Vestibular Schwannoma and Cochlea Segmentation

    Domain shift has been a long-standing issue for medical image segmentation. Recently, unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) methods have achieved promising cross-modality segmentation performance by distilling knowledge from a label-rich source domain to a target domain without labels. In this work, we propose a multi-scale self-ensembling based UDA framework for automatic segmentation of two key brain structures i.e., Vestibular Schwannoma (VS) and Cochlea on high-resolution T2 images. First, a segmentation-enhanced contrastive unpaired image translation module is designed for image-level domain adaptation from source T1 to target T2. Next, multi-scale deep supervision and consistency regularization are introduced to a mean teacher network for self-ensemble learning to further close the domain gap. Furthermore, self-training and intensity augmentation techniques are utilized to mitigate label scarcity and boost cross-modality segmentation performance. Our method demonstrates promising segmentation performance with a mean Dice score of 83.8% and 81.4% and an average asymmetric surface distance (ASSD) of 0.55 mm and 0.26 mm for the VS and Cochlea, respectively in the validation phase of the crossMoDA 2022 challenge.Comment: Accepted by BrainLes MICCAI proceedings (5th solution for MICCAI 2022 Cross-Modality Domain Adaptation (crossMoDA) Challenge

    Thermal Analysis and Junction Temperature Estimation under Different Ambient Temperatures Considering Convection Thermal Coupling between Power Devices

    The convection thermal coupling between adjacent power devices in power converters is dependent on the ambient temperature. When the ambient temperature changes, the convection thermal coupling also changes. This results in an inaccurate thermal model that causes errors in the prediction of the thermal distribution and junction temperature based on a fixed ambient temperature for power devices in converters application. To solve this variable-ambient-temperature-related issue, a thermal coupling experiment for semiconductor power devices (the MOSFET and diode) was performed to discuss the influence of the thermal coupling effect between adjacent devices and the FEM (Finite Element Method) thermal models for the power devices considering the convection thermal coupling are established. Through these simulations, the junction temperatures of devices under different ambient temperatures were obtained, and the relationships between the junction temperature and ambient temperatures were established. Moreover, the junction temperatures of power devices under different ambient temperatures were calculated and temperature distributions are analyzed in this paper. This method shows a strong significance and has potential applications for high-efficiency and high-power density converter designs

    Comparing the effectiveness of long-term use of daily and weekly glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists treatments in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus: a network meta-analysis

    ObjectiveIn the present network meta-analysis (NMA), we aimed to compare the effectiveness of daily and weekly treatment with glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists for patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).MethodWe used Stata 17.0 for the NMA. Eligible Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were searched in PubMed, Cochrane, and Embase databases until December 2022. Two researchers independently screened the available studies. The Cochrane Risk of Bias tool was used to assess the risk of bias in the included studies. We used GRADEprofiler (version3.6) to analyze the evidence certainty. Primary outcomes such as liver fat content (LFC), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels, as well as secondary outcomes such as γ-glutamyltransferase (γGGT) and body weight, were evaluated. Then, each intervention was ranked by the surface under the cumulative ranking curve (SUCRA). As a supplement, we drew forest plots of subgroup using RevMan (version 5.4).ResultsFourteen RCTs involving 1666 participants were included in the present study. The NMA results showed that exenatide (bid) was the best treatment for improving LFC compared with other agents, liraglutide, dulaglutide, semaglutide (qw) and placebo), and the SUCRA values were 66.8%. Among five interventions (except exenatide (bid) and semaglutide (qw)) evaluated for AST outcome, and six interventions (except exenatide (bid)) evaluated for ALT outcome, semaglutide (qd) was the most effective drug (SUCRA (AST) = 100%, SUCRA (ALT) = 95.6%). The result of LFC in daily group was MD = -3.66, 95% CI [-5.56, -1.76] and in weekly GLP-1RAs group, it was MD = -3.51, 95% CI [-4, -3.02]. As to AST and ALT, the results in daily group versus weekly group were AST: MD = -7.45, 95% CI [-14.57, -0.32] versus MD= -0.58, 95% CI [-3.18, 2.01] and ALT: MD = -11.12, 95% CI [-24.18, 1.95] versus MD = -5.62, 95% CI [-15.25, 4]. The quality of evidence was assessed as moderate or low.ConclusionThe daily GLP-1RAs may be more effective in primary outcomes. And the daily semaglutide may be the most effective treatment for NAFLD and T2DM among the six interventions

    Duet: efficient and scalable hybriD neUral rElation undersTanding

    Learned cardinality estimation methods have achieved high precision compared to traditional methods. Among learned methods, query-driven approaches face the data and workload drift problem for a long time. Although both query-driven and hybrid methods are proposed to avoid this problem, even the state-of-the-art of them suffer from high training and estimation costs, limited scalability, instability, and long-tailed distribution problem on high cardinality and high-dimensional tables, which seriously affects the practical application of learned cardinality estimators. In this paper, we prove that most of these problems are directly caused by the widely used progressive sampling. We solve this problem by introducing predicates information into the autoregressive model and propose Duet, a stable, efficient, and scalable hybrid method to estimate cardinality directly without sampling or any non-differentiable process, which can not only reduces the inference complexity from O(n) to O(1) compared to Naru and UAE but also achieve higher accuracy on high cardinality and high-dimensional tables. Experimental results show that Duet can achieve all the design goals above and be much more practical and even has a lower inference cost on CPU than that of most learned methods on GPU

    Orexin-A protects against oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation-induced cell damage by inhibiting endoplasmic reticulum stress-mediated apoptosis via the Gi and PI3K signaling pathways

    The neuropeptide orexin-A (OXA) has a neuroprotective effect, acting as an anti-apoptotic factor in response to multiple stimuli. Apoptosis induced by endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) underlies oxygen-glucose deprivation and reoxygenation (OGD/R)-induced cell damage, an in vitro model of ischemia/reperfusion injury. However, that OXA inhibits ERS-induced apoptosis in the OGD/R model has not been reported. In the present study, we investigated the neuroprotective effect of OXA (0.1 μM) on OGD/R-induced damage in the human neuroblastoma cell line SH-SY5Y. After OXA treatment following 4 h oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) and then 4 h reoxygenation (R), cell morphology, viability, and apoptosis were analyzed by histology, Cell Counting Kit-8 assay, and flow cytometry, respectively. Western blotting was used to measure expression levels of ERS- and apoptosis-related proteins. To determine signaling pathways involved in OXA-mediated neuroprotection, the Gi pathway inhibitor pertussis toxin (PTX; 100 ng/mL) and PI3K inhibitor LY294002 (LY; 10 μM) were added. In addition, in order to prove the specificity of these characteristics, the OXA antagonist Suvorexant (DORA; Ki of 0.55 nM and 0.35 nM for OX1R and OX2R) was used for intervention. Our results showed that OGD/R induced cell damage, manifested as morphological changes and a significant decrease in viability. Furthermore, Western blotting detected an increase in ERS-related proteins GRP78, p-IRE1α, p-JNK, and Cleaved caspase-12, as well as apoptosis-related proteins Cleaved caspase-3 and Bax, and a decrease in the anti-apoptosis factor Bcl-2. OXA intervention alleviated the degree of cellular damage, and protein expression was also reversed. In addition, the protective effect of OXA was reduced by adding PTX and LY. Meanwhile, after the use of DORA, changes in the expression of related proteins were detected, and it was found that the protective effect of OXA was weakened. Collectively, our results indicate that OXA has a neuroprotective effect on OGD/R-induced cell damage by inhibiting ERS-induced apoptosis through the combined action of Gi and PI3K signaling pathways. These findings help to clarify the mechanism underlying the neuroprotective action of OXA, which should aid the development of further candidate drugs, and provide a new therapeutic direction for the treatment of ischemic stroke

    Rare earth ion-doped Y2.95R0.05MgAl3SiO12 (R = Yb, Y, Dy, Eu, Sm) garnet-type microwave ceramics for 5G application

    In this work, Y2.95R0.05MgAl3SiO12 (R=Yb, Y, Dy, Eu, Sm) microwave single-phase dielectric ce-ramics were successfully prepared via conventional ceramic technology by doping a series of rare earth elements with different ionic radius (Yb, Y, Dy, Eu, Sm) for the first time. The effects of A site occupied by rare earth elements on the microwave dielectric properties of Y2.95R0.05MgAl3SiO12 were studied by crystal structure refinement, scanning electron microscope (SEM), bond valence theory, P-V-L theory and infrared reflection spectroscopy. It was found that the ionicity of Y-O bond, the lattice energy, the bond energy and bond valance of Al(Tet)-O bond had important effects on microwave dielectric properties. Particularly, the optimum microwave dielectric properties were obtained for Y2.95Dy0.05MgAl3SiO12 sintered at 1575 °C for 6 h, with εr = 9.68, Q×f = 68,866 GHz, and τf = -35.8 ppm/°C, displaying its potential prospect in the 5G communication

    A Prospective Randomized Study of the Radiotherapy Volume for Limited-stage Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Preliminary Report

    Background and objective Controversies exists with regard to target volumes as far as thoracic radiotherapy (TRT) is concerned in the multimodality treatment for limited-stage small cell lung cancer (LSCLC). The aim of this study is to prospectively compare the local control rate, toxicity profiles, and overall survival (OS) between patients received different target volumes irradiation after induction chemotherapy. Methods LSCLC patients received 2 cycles of etoposide and cisplatin (EP) induction chemotherapy and were randomly assigned to receive TRT to either the post- or pre-chemotherapy tumor extent (GTV-T) as study arm and control arm, CTV-N included the positive nodal drainage area for both arms. One to 2 weeks after induction chemotherapy, 45 Gy/30 Fx/19 d TRT was administered concurrently with the third cycle of EP regimen. After that, additional 3 cycles of EP consolidation were administered. Prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) was administered to patients with a complete response. Results Thirty-seven and 40 patients were randomly assigned to study arm and control arm. The local recurrence rates were 32.4% and 28.2% respectively (P=0.80); the isolated nodal failure (INF) rate were 3.0% and 2.6% respectively (P=0.91); all INF sites were in the ipsilateral supraclavicular fossa. Medastinal N3 disease was the risk factor for INF (P=0.02, OR=14.13, 95%CI: 1.47-136.13). During radiotherapy, grade I, II weight loss was observed in 29.4%, 5.9% and 56.4%, 7.7% patients respectively (P=0.04). Grade 0-I and II-III late pulmonary injury was developed in 97.1%, 2.9% and 86.4%, 15.4% patients respectively (P=0.07). Median survival time was 22.1 months and 26.9 months respectively. The 1 to 3-year OS were 77.9%, 44.4%, 37.3% and 75.8%, 56.3%, 41.7% respectively (P=0.79). Conclusion The preliminary results of this study indicate that irradiant the post-chemotherapy tumor extent (GTV-T) and positive nodal drainage area did not decrease local control and overall survival while radiation toxicity was reduced. But the current sample size has not met designed requirements, and further investigation is warranted before final conclusions could be drawn
